Beach running.

Skip will be pleased to hear that Colin and Ralph have been jogging (fast walking?) to reach peak fitness for the coming season. They found three live WW2 hand grenades washed up on Shanklin beach and Colin suggested taking them to the police station. Ralph asked what should they do if one exploded, Colin replied "We'll tell the police that we only found two".

New kit for Colin

Colin's winter break ("I went around the world, so somewhere else next year"), took him to Tombstone, Arizona where he purchased a full cowboy outfit. The leggings will double as cricket trousers for the coming season so no more moans about how cold it is.

Big signing for 2011 season.

Geoff Read ~ live in front of the Sky cameras ~ signs a five year deal with Shanklin Evergreens. Geoff's contract is based on performance, one wicket = a cheese sandwich, every 5 runs will be rewarded with a cherry bakewell and a catch equates to a packet of crisps (barman's choice). We are hoping for a productive season, Geoff. May you not go hungry.

Bunny's old job

Alf Rabbott tells me that one of Bunny's previous jobs (see 2011 census) was as a pheasant plucker ~ here we have a photo to prove it.

Bunny's other job.

Shanklin cricket club members probably haven't realised that Bunny's gardening skills have been recognised and that he has a weekly write up in The Daily Telegraph gardening section ~ well done!

Helpful Evergreens

Good to see that the Evergreen squad helped Guy De Belder with one of those difficult extractions.
